TIS THE SEASON – MULLED WINE MADE WITH ISLAND SORREL TEA!

Christmas always comes round so fast but one of my favourite things about it is Mulled Wine!

My mum recently told me that she used half the last batch of our Island Sorrel  pouch to put it into her mulled wine. Needless to say it was unanimously delicious by all who tasted it. Usually in Jamaica we add  white rum to our Sorrel but this is a great new twist and best of all its the simplest recipe to follow.

To celebrate Christmas I have decided to share the Island Sorrel  recipe with you all  so we can all have a very MERRY Christmas indeed.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of Merlot wine (a cheap one)
  • 1 bottle of water (use the same wine bottle to measure)
  • 25g of Island Sorrel Tea
  • 1 Orange
  • 3 Cloves
  • 1 tsp of Nutmeg
  • 1 vanilla pod or 1 tsp of vanilla
  • 1 Cinnamon stick

In a pot

For all of those who need to try it now and have little patience (putting my hand up)…here is the quick method…

Place all the ingredients in a large pot and simmer on a low head for 30 mins – 1 hr

Slow cooker (recommended as it gives all the spices and tea time to infuse)

This is the preferred method!

Perfect for your  Christmas Parties and you just add all the ingredients and leave it whilst you prepare the rest of the food and get ready for your party. Leave to simmer for about 4 hours and enjoy!

Happy Sipping!
