This is a very versatile tisane. A traditional drink in Jamaica, usually served cold and made into a punch with rum, but can be taken as a hot drink as well. It is quite easy to see why this blend has recently won a Great Taste Award 2020 two star rating. A gloriously plum-skin coloured infusion, pleasingly aromatic – looks great. Fruity ginger notes on the nose. – hot tip turn this into a mulled wine at Christmas!

Island Sorrel Blend

What is not to love by this antioxidant packed blend? There are lots of benefits to drinking this tea. But the main ones are:

Hibiscus which is said to lower blood pressure and blood fat levels. Some trials have show that it may even help to promote weight loss.

Ginger – is thought to aid digestive issues.

Lime – improve skin quality and boost your immune system.

Cinnamon – may help reduce blood sugar levels and may also help to promote weight loss.

Plum like fruity flavour, the warming ginger comes through nicely and lingers in the mouth. There’s a lot going on, and it’s balanced very well. The lime dominates, this is what makes this infusion utterly different and thus welcome.

Each ingredient in looseleaf teas and blends take their own time to release their flavours once they are placed in boiling water. For this reason, it is always best to follow the instructions on the packaging for the temperature it should be and the length of time to be steeped.

Check out how to get the best results below!

  • Use fresh water in your kettle or pot boil and boil to 100℃.
  • Place 2 tsp of Island Sorrel per person in your infuser and place in a cup or teapot.
  • Pour your hot water into the cup or teapot. For best results leave to steep for about 10 – 12 mins. It might seem like it takes a while but good things come to those who wait!
